Sleeving: a new edition without new packaging

A new edition of a product usually means new packaging: a design, a print run, a minimum order and boxes that stay in the warehouse once the campaign is over. Sleeving skips all of that. We slide a full-colour printed cardboard sleeve around the existing box, and the standard product becomes a limited edition, a seasonal version or a personalised gift.

What is a sleeve?

A sleeve is a printed cardboard wrap that fits around a round or rectangular box. The product and its original packaging stay exactly as they are; only the outside changes. Because the sleeve comes off easily, products that are left over after a campaign can go straight back into regular stock.

What it is used for

  • Limited editions – a special design for a collaboration, an anniversary or a collector's series.
  • Seasonal and campaign versions – summer, the holidays or an event, for a few weeks and then back to normal.
  • Retail and promotions – a version that stands out on the shelf, or one made for a single retail partner.
  • Corporate gifts – a product in a company's own colours, with its logo or a personal message.

How it works

You send us several of your products, so we can test print and fit on the real box. Within one week you receive sleeved samples to check colour and finish. After approval we print the sleeves in full colour on our own equipment, sleeve the products and pack them to your specifications. We can store them and ship them to your warehouse, stores or customers across Europe.

Why it pays off

The cost per piece stays low, because the product itself is not touched and no new packaging run is needed. There is no fixed minimum order, which makes sleeving a good fit for campaigns that come back several times a year. And nothing goes to waste when a campaign ends.

For brands that want to run this as a complete programme – printing, sleeving, storage and shipping – we do this through Deonet Solutions.
